Job Description

Role: Business Analyst - Interoperability (FHIR + EDI)

Location: Remote

Duration: Long Term Contract

Mandatory skills

FHIR APIs, HL7, EDI X12 and Healthcare Domain

Responsibilities:

  • Gather, analyze, and document business requirements related to healthcare data exchange and interoperability.
  • Lead and support integration projects involving FHIR APIs, HL7, and EDI X12 transactions (e.g., 837, 835, 270/271).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, architects, QA, and client stakeholders.
  • Translate business needs into detailed functional and technical specifications.
  • Validate and test interoperability workflows and data mappings.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA, CMS, and ONC guidelines.
  • Conduct gap analysis and recommend improvements to existing interoperability frameworks.
  • Support UAT and production rollout of interoperability solutions.

Key Skills:

  • FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources): Deep understanding of FHIR resources, profiles, and RESTful APIs.
  • EDI (Electronic Data Interchange): Experience with healthcare EDI formats including 837 (claims), 835 (remittance), 270/271 (eligibility).
  • HL7 v2/v3: Familiarity with legacy HL7 messaging standards.
  • Healthcare Domain Expertise: Knowledge of payer-provider workflows, claims processing, eligibility, and benefits.
  • Business Analysis: Strong skills in requirement gathering, process modeling, and stakeholder communication.
  • Tools & Platforms: Experience with tools like Postman, Swagger, Mirth Connect, and integration engines.
  • Data Mapping & Validation: Ability to interpret and validate data formats, schemas, and transformation logic.
